Системы подземного хранения мусора в Одессе были явно не лишними. Они надежно скрывают под землей нелицеприятное зрелище, не текут, при должной обработке — не источают ни малейшего запаха. Тем более удивительно, что в Украине подземные хранилища далеко не редкость и установлены в городах поменьше и победнее Одессы. Например, в Ивано-Франковске.

Простое и практичное решение для городских улиц. Небольшой островок, часто с зеленью, на котором можно отдохнуть в больших городах. Первоначальная идея парклетов была предложена итало-бразильским дизайнером Сьюзи Болоньезе и первую подобную зону отдыха установили в Сан-Франциско в 2010 году.

В Одессе тоже есть парклет, расположенный в далеко не самом людном месте — на углу Польской и Бунина, где потребность в нем самая минимальная и он служит импровизированной курилкой для посетителей близлежащего кафе. В то время как центральные улицы Одессы, такие как Ришельевская или Екатерининская, лишенные скамеек, с большими потоками людей, явно испытывают острую нехватку подобных мест.
Еще одна полезная вещь, которую давно осваивают в развитых странах — реконструкция индустриальных зон и промышленных объектов в современные районы и парки. Одни из свежих примеров — Хайлайн Парк и сахарный завод Домино в Нью-Йорке. С некоторых пор на Западе научились не разрушать заброшенные фабрики под новостройки, а трансформировать в модные районы, от которых захватывает дух.
Например, 2-х километровая эстакада закрывшейся ветки метро — какой от нее толк, казалось бы? Но нет. Немного изобретательности и вуаля — удивительный зеленый парк на высоте нескольких метров вьется над улочками Нью-Йорка. А каким роскошным мог бы тот же Деволановский спуск?

Давным давно урбанисты и социальные психологи на Западе пришли к парадоксальному выводу: люди счастливее, когда они общаются. С тех пор индустриальный вектор развития городов начался меняться в сторону общественного. Во многих европейских городах, например, центр либо закрыт для автомобилей, либо их движение там жестко ограничено. Начали разрабатываться концепции отрытых пространств, где жители могли бы собираться и коммуницировать друг с другом.
Еще дальше пошли в Великобритании. Некоторое время назад они принялись сносить старые почтовые отделения за ненадобностью. Однако прекратили, так как проведенное социологическое исследование показало, что почта служила для маленьких городков чем-то вроде общественных центров, где жители традиционно встречались, вели беседы, спрашивали о погоде — то есть, взаимодействовали. И это делало их счастливее.

Одессе бы тоже был к лицу пешеходный центр. Тем более, что участок Дерибасовская-Ланжероновская-Приморский просто напрашивается, чтобы по нему ходили ногами.
Километровая пробка, стоянка под офисом, паркинг у двери дома — это наследие далекого 20-го века, когда города строили для машин и мало кого волновали люди. В последние десятилетия все меняется и первый признак изменений — общественный транспорт.
Даже в США, в которых трамвай днем с огнем не найдешь, а четверть любого города всегда представляла из себя парковку, опомнились и взялись прокладывать рельсы. Потому что трамвай — идеальный, экологичный, удобный транспорт для жителей.
